Damon & Karla: Belmont & San Jose Wedding

It was a cold night in downtown San Jose.  Karla, in a moment of courage, walked up to Damon and whispered into his ear that she thought he was beautiful.  Damon, obviously taken back by her words, didn’t quite know how to react.  But that night, he went home and told his roommates that he had just met his future wife.

Turns out, he was right.

After a year of crossing paths but never really connecting (Damon says Karla was playing hard to get),  Damon finally won her heart.  Years later, and more in love than ever before, they became husband and wife.  It doesn’t take long being around them to know that they’re smitten with each other.  Damon looks at Karla with loving adoration, and Karla looks back at him in exactly the same way.

If I were to describe Karla in a word, it would be that she sparkles.  The way she smiles lights up a room.  She makes anyone who meets her feel like they’ve known each other forever, and her warmth can brighten anyone’s day.  I was so excited to see all of her details on her wedding day – the glitter of the crystals and diamonds matched the sparkle of excitement in her eyes!

Damon and Karla got married in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross in Belmont.  The rich, colorful mosaics and golden walls were a stunning setting for their vows.
The reception was held at the Fairmont in downtown San Jose.  Karla’s uncle did a spectacular job with the reception decor.  The rich silver fabrics and sparkling centerpieces made the room feel truly regal.
The toasts were some of the best I’ve heard.  Karla and Damon’s family and friends had me both laughing and in tears during  every toast.  Karla’s sisters just adore her, and Damon’s friends share a bond like close brothers.
I just LOVE Greek dancing!  When I was in Greece for a wedding many years ago, I had the privilege of attending a family rehearsal dinner.  That was my first taste of Greek dancing, where the men jumped, turned and flipped at the front of the line.  Not to mention the breaking of plates in the center of the dance floor – the family’s actual china from the cabinets inside!

Luckily, the Fairmont’s dishes were safe, but when one of Damon’s relatives asked the DJ if he had any Greek music (he didn’t), the hunt was ON to find some.  Someone found some music on their phone (thank you iTunes!) and the dance floor soon filled up!

These guys know how to dance!  Damon sure surprised me by owning the dance floor.  I originally met Damon at work – we worked for the same company while I was still working in Marketing.  He seemed like such a chill guy, calm as a cucumber in the office.  He seems to loose all inhibitions on the dance floor though – everyone loved it!
Thank you, Damon and Karla, for having me there for your wedding day!  It was an emotional and incredibly sweet day, and I was truly touched by the love of your families.  I wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness!
